Tomte Visit the Forest
A little forest of Christmas trees has been growing in the shop. A couple of Tomte have popped in to see what's happening, and a Christmas hat appeared out of nowhere.
All very cute, but hiding a tasty secret - a Terry's Chocolate Orange.
The patterns are available, as is the yarn, and the various trimmings.

Accessiblity
A post on facebook started, "Every single time somewhere doesn’t list their wheelchair access info on their website or event pages etc this is what I feel like when I make the old “Oh hi are you wheelchair accessible?” call." She mentioned how much time she uses to make sure she can get into various locations. I realised we haven't published that information about Joan's.
Joan's is accessible by wheelchair, and those with mobility devises. From the Shoprite car park, there's ramps coming down into Village Walk. These ramps are steeper than modern standards.
Just before the exit of the car park, there's a pathway down into Village Walk. This has a much shallower ramp, and might be more suitable to some.
There is no step into the shop, but the door is heavy. Tap on the windows, and a member of staff with happily open the door for you.
Service animals are very welcome, and staff have been trained not to engage with them.
Seats are available in the shop.

A Homespun Sleeveless Sweater
Carole is wearing her new sleeveless sweater. It was knitted in King Cole Homespun. It's a DK weight yarn, comprised of fine merino, alpaca, viscose and polyamide. It feels wonderful against the skin, light yet warm. Four 50g balls were used to make this garment. The colour is 'Midnight Sky'.
Carole initially had some problems with her tension square. She was able to get the correct number of stitches per 10cm, but had too many rows. The solution was to move up and over. She found moving up to 4.5mm needles (instead of the 4mm standard for DK yarns), and also moving over to bamboo needles, gave the correct sizing. If she had stayed with the 4mm needles, the top would have been too short.

Un-Boo-Lievable!
Un-boo-lievable! We have an infestation of ghosts!
The ghosts were made by dipping squares of cotton muslin into PVA glue. The glue-soaked squares were draped over balloons resting in mugs. Googly eyes were added.
