Japanese Charm Bag

We're often asked, "What can I make from charm packs, or jelly rolls?" Here's another wonderful example by Amanda.

 

Amanda used the mini charm packs (2.5" squares) to make this bag. The squares have been sashed, and a black keystones added. The cream fabric really allows the bright colours to shine, and the black offsets it beautifully.

Tea Bags Bag

Loop the Loop has used some of our Celtic Bees and Thistles fabric to make a fabulous bag for herbal tea bags.

They write "When I go away or to events such as weddings I take some herbal teabags in a plastic bag as even though herbal teas are more popular now they are not always available. So I usually head down to breakfast clutching a plastic bag of my tea bags. Now I have a small waterproof, foodsafe pouch that looks beautiful and I would be proud to place this on the breakfast table (usually I keep the plastic bag out of sight!).

John Rhys-Davies' Chair

We get asked to help with some interesting projects.

 

Janet made a new seat and backrest for a director's chair. On Saturday, John Rhys-Davies will be sitting in that chair being interviewed for the television programme 'Documentary Now'. 

"Hosted by Helen Mirren, the series spoofs celebrated documentary films by parodying the style of each documentary with a similar, but fictitious, subject."

Hope John finds Janet's work comfortable.

Marina will explain the uses of many different sewing machine feet, and show how to use them.

The talk/demo will be given this Saturday (26th Feb) and repeated on the 5th of March. It starts at 9.30am and will last approximately one hour. Numbers will be limited to 4 to people to see clearly. The cost is £10.

Steph Le is modelling the beautiful fit and flair summer dress she has made. It is from the new Reflections range from Lewis and Irene. The fabric is 100%, and just the thing for the hot weather we have been having.

Funky Dog Collars

Nikki Golding has been making rather funky dog collars from our fabrics. They are rather wonderful!

Simplicity Sale

 

With lockdowns etc, it's been a long time since the last sewing pattern sale, but today sees the start of the Simplicity sale. From 11th, until the 27th of June, all Simplicity patterns are half price.

Bobbin Buddies

 

A customer asked if we could get hold of some bobbin buddies. They are designed to keep your bobbin and spool together. This means you don't have to hunt through your threads to find the matching bobbin and spool.

Some people are quite happy to go on the 'thread treasure hunt', but for others it's a waste of time, and brings frustrations. If you get frustrated, then this might be a helpful little gadget.

New Face Mask Pattern

People have been asking about face mask patterns. Here's one that's proving popular, and is good at preventing glasses from steaming up.
